The cinema should feel a little like a private library — quiet between sessions, generous in seating, attentive in projection. Browntis Movies is two carefully tuned rooms, one downstairs and one upstairs, on Sydney's Kent Street.
We also keep pace with Sydney's festival calendar — longstanding ties with the Sydney Film Festival, the Sydney Short Film Festival and allied local showcases steer encore screenings and special events you'd otherwise only catch across town for a fortnight each year.
Our programme moves between first-run features, Australian premieres, restored prints, Royal Opera relays and director Q&A nights. No advertisements before the picture. No phone glow in the dark. Just the picture, the sound, and a room of people listening.
